Guidance on digital accessibility.
Digital accessibility is about creating digital services that work for everyone. It combines good UX, clear information, and technology that supports different needs. An accessible website:
improves user experience, reach, and conversion
supports 10-30% of the Swedish population with disabilities
stronger brand and trust
reduces legal risks
Legal requirements.
Digital accessibility is regulated in Sweden by two laws. The Swedish "DOS law" applies to the public sector and the Swedish "LPTT law" (2025) applies to large parts of the private sector, including B2C e-commerce. LPTT requires that e-commerce services must be usable by everyone, regardless of ability.
PTS – supervision of e-commerce.
From June 28, 2025, PTS is responsible for reviewing e-commerce according to LPTT in Sweden. The supervision has started with larger players and will continue in 2026. Deficiencies can lead to action requirements, penalties, or sanction fees.

Tips to consider.
Accessibility is good business.
10-30% of the Swedish population has a disability. Excluding them means saying no to a significant part of your revenue. By optimizing the entire customer journey, you also reduce friction and increase the chance that the visitor actually completes their purchase.
Strengthen your brand.
Inclusion builds loyalty. Today's consumers have higher demands for companies to take responsibility for a fair digital experience.
Accessibility is good for everyone.
All abilities are temporary due to injury risks and as we age. Abilities can also be situation-dependent, such as in the case of glare, when good contrast values are needed.
Gain SEO synergies.
Google favors websites that are technically accessible. We see a direct connection between WCAG efforts and improved organic visibility.
Direction before perfection.
Start at the right end, with the biggest gains. It is important to have a documented plan and a clear direction for the action work.
Be prepared for a PTS audit.
Proactive accessibility work reduces the risk of remarks, sanctions, and fines from the Swedish supervisory authority PTS.
